The Great Wall
The Great Wall is China's most prominent landmark and must-see site. Begun the construction 2000 years ago, the efforts required to build the wall through the history is phenomenal, some people call it the longest cemetery in the world, but it is better to be named as the accumulation of Chinese culture and history; The total length of all the walls built in different dynasties around china exceed 20,000 km, however lengthy sections of it has returned to dust in the history, the wall remained today is less than 2500 km. The East of China Wall start from the sea in Qinhuangdao city, and then winding along the mountains, cross deserts, grassland,and goes all the way to West of China, end in Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu Province.
Beijing Great Wall is the best preserved among all the great wall in China, because the wall are all built with local materials, Beijing great wall is built with rocks and stones from the mountain, the Great Wall at Mongelia are built with sand, in west China Gansu Province, the wall is built with local earth. In Beijing area, there are several sections of Great Wall open to tourists, such as Juyongguan Great Wall, Badaling Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall, Jiankou Great Wall, Simatai Great Wall etc.
Badaling Great Wall was officially opened to tourists in 1958. It was the earliest section of the Great Wall opened to tourists and receives the largest number of visitors. Till 1992, there are total more than 300 presidents and government leaders been to Badaling Great wall.
Mutianyu Great Wall is connected with Jiankou Great Wall in the west and GUbeikou Great Wall in the east, it starts getting popular recent years, not like Badaling Great Wall.
Juyongguan Great Wall is the closest section of the Great Wall to Beijing - a little closer than Badaling which it connects to; it is short and very easy to climb, there is no cable car on Juyongguan Great Wall, few steps away from the parking lot is the great wall, it is the easiest way to visit the great wall , but with no view of Magnificent great wall far away, becasue only short part of the wall can be seen
