Detailed program: |
Today we go to visit the Shanghai Museum. The Shanghai Museum provides a fascinating insight on China’s 5000 years of history, with many rare artifacts on display that have both historical and artistic significance. After that, we visit Shangahi Propaganda Poster Museum. On display are around 400 posters dating back to as early as the 1910s, with many combining fine art and heavy political symbolism. Then we have a walk in Taikang road, also called Tianzifang art area, is a romantic street present the Young china with contemporary art, design and fashion. Later we drive to 1933. This 1930s building and the one-time largest abattoir in East Asia, has been reconstructed into a new recreational destination for locals and expats, bringing together clothing boutiques, tech shops and restaurants. The glass-floored gallery on the top level isn't for those afraid of heights. After visiting the famous Duolun Culture Street, we explore Xin Tian Di & French Quarter, the new hot spot in town. This pedestrian street offers a mixture of traditional architecture alongside contemporary design. Here you can get a real sense of the fusion of two cultures that sometimes clash but most of the time peacefully coexists in this rapidly changing city. Leaving there we go to the 50 Moganshan Road also called "M50", is a contemporary art district in Shanghai, that houses a thriving community of more than a hundred artists whose studios are open to the public. It is often compared with New York's SoHo and Beijing's 798 Art Zone. The art quarter has become a popular cultural attraction for local and international visitors alike, and was named among the top ten things to do in Shanghai by Time Magazine. |
